Ma. Patricia Duque is the founder of Touched by Green a gallery of hand made gifts and accessories made from echo-sustainable materials and fair traded was born in Colombia.

Moved to the US 17 years ago with her 2 teens: Jose and Carolina searching for safety and a better future for her children in a time when Colombia was going throughout difficult times.  Without the language and visa restrictions that only allowed her to be independent contractor, she started to make a living in this Country by delivering papers and doing some additional babysitting. Once she learned some English, she was hired as a manager in the retail industry learning much of what later would help her to open the Store.

It took her 12 years before she went back to Colombia the first time, and was immediately tapped to market products for artisans in villages with limited commerce to make them profitable again participating with other professionals working together to turn things around in Colombia.

She got the entrepreneurial skills and work ethic from her father, who raised a family of five with a wholesale agency of textiles, representing one of the oldest and most credited industries in Colombia. After going to school for economics, she owned a food wholesale distribution business where she also imported American products like Idahoan potatoes, microwave pop-corn and others which industrialized process came as novelty to Colombians at that time.

Pride, honesty and work ethic lead the core of her every day decisions.

She loves and feels now part of both Countries.
